The Holy Scripture
Chapter XXIII
From thence I went to another place to the west of the ends of the earth.
¹Κἀκεῖθεν ἐφώδευσα εἰς ἄλλον τόπον πρὸς δυσμὰς τῶν περάτων τῆς γῆς.
And I saw a burning fire which ran without resting, and paused not from its course day or night but (ran) regularly.
²καὶ ἐθεασάμην πῦρ διατρέχον καὶ οὐκ ἀναπαυόμενον οὐδὲ ἐνλεῖπον τοῦ δρόμου, ἡμέρας καὶ νυκτὸς ἄμα διαμένον.
And I asked saying: 'What is this which rests not?'
καὶ ἠρώτησα λέγων Τί ἐστιν τὸ μὴ ἔχον ἀνάπαυσιν;
Then Raguel, one of the holy angels who was with me, answered me and said unto me: 'This course of fire which thou hast seen is the fire in the west which persecutes all the luminaries of heaven .'
τότε ἀπεκρίθη μοι Ῥαγουήλ, ὁ εἷς τῶν ἁγίων ἀγγέλων ὃς μετʼ ἐμοῦ ἶν Οὗτος ὁ δρόμος τοῦ πυρὸς τὸ πρὸς δυσμὰς πῦρ τὸ ἐκδιῶκόν ἐστιν πάντας τοὺς φωστῆρας τοῦ οὐρανοῦ.
